WYF 2024 Volunteer Recruitment and Training Center Opens in Ekaterinburg

On September 4, the World Youth Festival Volunteer Recruitment and Training Center was opened at the Volural center of Ural Federal University. The event was attended by Viktor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU, and Larisa Sulima, Deputy Director General for Regional Cooperation of the World Youth Festival Executive Directorate.

The Volunteer Recruitment and Training Center in Ekaterinburg will bring together more than 270 volunteers from six regions of Russia — Sverdlovsk Region, Chelyabinsk Region, Kurgan Region, Tyumen Region, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area. The certified Center will be responsible for recruiting and training WYF 2024 volunteers and coordinating their work at all the Festival venues.

"Ural Federal University welcomes the World Youth Festival.Our students, together with thousands of their peers from different countries, will take part in the largest international event of recent years. 5,000 volunteers are needed to organize the Festival, and we are especially proud that the UrFU Volunteer Center is now the official operator of the volunteer program in the Ural Federal District. It will ensure that volunteers are selected, trained and coordinated to deliver an event that showcases the best our country has to offer," said Viktor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU.

As part of the opening ceremony, a tripartite cooperation agreement was signed between the World Youth Festival Executive Directorate, the Association of Volunteer Centers and Ural Federal University.Earlier, on September 1, an art object dedicated to WYF 2024 was unveiled in UrFU.

More and more people and organizations committed to quality results are involved in the Festival preparations. We know UrFU as an advanced center for the development of volunteerism in the region and as a modern university platform for young people, combining traditions and innovations and open to experiments. Festival volunteers will be recruited and trained here in the most professional way possible. Our cooperation will address all issues that require the qualified participation of the Association of Volunteer Centers," commented Artem Metelev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy and Head of the Association of Volunteer Centers and the ДОБРО.РФ platform.

The Sverdlovsk Region is actively involved in the development of the volunteer movement. There are over 700 volunteer organizations and about 100,000 volunteers in Ekaterinburg.The Volural center of Ural Federal University is the district mobility center of the Ural Federal District under the Volunteer Mobility Program of the Association of Volunteer Centers.

Overview:

The World Youth Festival will take place in 2024, according to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation. At the first meeting of the Organizing Committee chaired by Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration, it was decided to hold the Festival in the Sirius Federal Territory on March 1-7, 2024. The regional program of the World Youth Festival will take place on March 10-17, 2024. The participants will visit 30 cities of Russia.

20,000 young leaders in education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering, charity, sports, business, media, etc., including 10,000 foreign participants, will take part in the WYF 2024. For the first time in the history of the festival movement young people aged 14-17, 500 from Russia and 500 from abroad, will have the opportunity to participate in the event. Registration is open until December 1 at fest2024.com.

5,000 volunteers from all regions of Russia, including about 250 residents of the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions will be involved in the organization and delivery of the Festival. Registration of volunteers is open on the ДОБРО.РФ platform until December 1, 2023.
