On September 1, the World Youth Festival Volunteer Recruitment and Training Center was opened at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. The opening ceremony was attended by Ivan Lobanov, Rector of the University, Larisa Sulima, Deputy Director General for Regional Cooperation of the World Youth Festival Executive Directorate, and Kirill Antonov, Executive Director of the Association of Volunteer Centers.

The Volunteer Center of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics will bring together volunteers from the Central Federal District. The organization will select and train 230 volunteers from Moscow and the Bryansk, Kaluga, Orel, Smolensk and Tula Regions.

"The opening of the World Youth Festival Volunteer Recruitment and Training Center is an important step in the development of our university. As well as providing a high quality education, we strive to instil in our students the values of active citizenship and social responsibility. Voluntary participation in large-scale international events such as the WYF 2024 allows students to broaden their horizons, acquire new knowledge and skills, and contribute to the development of the international community. It is also a great opportunity for our students to express themselves, make valuable contacts and deepen their knowledge of international relations and culture. We are proud to be part of such an important project and I would like to invite active young people to join this initiative and contribute to the development of the World Youth Festival," said Ivan Lobanov, Rector of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

As part of the opening ceremony, a tripartite cooperation agreement was signed between the World Youth Festival Executive Directorate, the Association of Volunteer Centers and Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. The tasks of the Center include the recruitment and training of volunteers who will participate in the organization and delivery of the World Youth Festival.

“The first Volunteer Recruitment and Training Centers are starting their work. Each of them will play an important role in providing solutions to functional issues and tasks. They will form the competence and qualification level of future volunteers. The Volunteer Center of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics will undoubtedly be one of the leading centers and will act as a professional, effective and well-coordinated mechanism. The potential and traditions of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, as well as its deep involvement in the volunteering agenda, will facilitate this. The Association of Volunteer Centers is happy about this partnership. We are confident that it will be productive. We wish our colleagues the best of luck,” said Kirill Antonov, Executive Director of the Association of Volunteer Centers.

September will see the start of the selection process for the WYF 2024 volunteers, as well as the training of trainers who, as official representatives of the centers, will train volunteers in all regions of the country until the end of January 2024.

The Volunteer Center of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics actively participates in the development of volunteerism in its region and takes part in university, city, all-Russian and international events in various fields: ecology, sports, media and others. Every year the Center organizes more than 150 volunteer events involving 3,000 volunteers.
