Volga Federal District Volunteers Join the World Youth Festival

All the World Youth Festival Volunteer Recruitment and Training Centers have started their work in the Volga Federal District. The opening ceremony of the WYF 2024 volunteer center at Chuvash State University took place on October 10, the volunteer center at Lobachevsky University began to operate on October 12 and the center of the Agency for Youth Policy of the Samara Region was opened on October 13. Together with the Volunteering Information Resource Center of the Republic of Tatarstan launched in August, they will train 745 volunteers from fourteen Russian regions.

The opening ceremonies at ChuvSU and UNN were attended by Larisa Sulima, Deputy Director General for Regional Cooperation of the World Youth Festival Directorate, and the university rectors. Sergey Burtsev, Head of the Department for Youth Affairs, attended the opening ceremony of the Volunteer Recruitment and Training Center in Samara. The event participants signed cooperation agreements.

"I am sure that the ChuvSU volunteer center will handle this task brilliantly. Our volunteers have solid experience in the delivery of major events since 2014, among others the Summer Universiade in Kazan. That is when the first in Chuvashia and the largest in the region volunteer center of an educational organization was established at the university. Now, together with other Russian regions, it will train volunteers for the World Youth Festival," said Andrey Alexandrov, Rector of Chuvash State University.

All of the Centers will be involved in a large-scale volunteer selection process that will include interviews with each potential Festival volunteer to determine their experience and motivation.

"Thanks to many successful events held in the region, the event volunteering block has developed well, and the status of Nizhny Novgorod as the Youth Capital of Russia has strengthened the skills and abilities of the volunteers. We are proud of our experienced volunteers. With their vast experience, they are willing to share their knowledge and help others. In addition, an art object dedicated to the World Youth Festival was unveiled in ChuvSU. It has the WYF 2024 logo and a QR code, which anyone can scan to instantly apply for participation in the largest international youth event next year. The first art object was unveiled in Nizhny Novgorod on June 24, 2023, to mark the start of the application campaign for participants.

27 WYF 2024 Volunteer Recruitment and Training Centers were selected based on the results of the All-Russian competition. They will select and train volunteers from all over Russia and coordinate their work at all the Festival venues.

The World Youth Festival will take place in 2024, according to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation. At the first meeting of the Organizing Committee chaired by Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration, it was decided to hold the Festival in the Sirius Federal Territory on March 1-7, 2024. The regional program of the World Youth Festival will take place on March 10-17, 2024. The participants will visit 30 cities of Russia.

20,000 young leaders in education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering, charity, sports, business, media, etc., including 10,000 foreign participants, will take part in the WYF 2024. For the first time in the history of the festival movement young people aged 14-17, 500 from Russia and 500 from abroad, will have the opportunity to participate in the event. Registration is open until December 1 at fest2024.com.

5,000 volunteers from all regions of Russia, including about 250 residents of the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions will be involved in the organization and delivery of the Festival. Registration of volunteers is open on the ДОБРО.РФ platform until December 1, 2023.

The World Youth Festival is organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) and operated by the World Youth Festival Directorate.
