Students from All Over Russia Invited to Take Part in the World Youth Festival

1 September 2023, 14:00

On September 1, about 150 Russian universities and their foreign branches held a presentation of the World Youth Festival. Students were told how they could become part of this major international youth event, which will take place in March next year, and how they could contribute, together with young people from all over the world, to building a common future in a just and multipolar world, based on cooperation and balancing of interests.

“The student years are always bright and memorable. It is a time to make friends, travel, learn and see the world. And we are not just talking about studying within the walls of the university, you can learn and discover something new by meeting new people and new cultures anytime and anywhere. That is why it is important to create a platform where young and active people from different backgrounds can meet, find like-minded people and gain new experiences. The World Youth Festival will be such an event, meeting all these needs of young people from Russia and abroad. Young people from all over the world should come to our country, get acquainted with our culture and traditions, exchange knowledge and opinions. The youth can be united in solving the crucial social problems and building firm and sustainable world. The Festival shall become a platform for the consolidation of opinions: everyone who is open to communication is invited to an open conversation,” said Ksenia Razuvaeva, Head of Rosmolodezh.

During the presentation, students from Russian universities learned not only how the Festival will be organized and what opportunities it provides for young people, but also about its main values, including responsibility for the future of the planet, searching for common ground, mutual spiritual enrichment without imposing uniform standards, charity and mutual help. The universities also showed a film about the history of the festival movement in our country, where the World Festival of Youth and Students was held three times, in 1957, 1985 and 2017.

“We recognize that at all times young people, especially the student community, have always been the drivers of change. It is they who drive forward science, art and sports and who actively participate in social transformations. Today we are building the system of education and youth policy in Russia in such a way that young people are not observers of the ongoing processes, but co-authors of our future. The World Youth Festival can be a great platform to share our experience with representatives of other countries and to see what opportunities they have for development and self-realization. I am sure that this international event will help the participants to find like-minded people, create new projects and spend their time in a meaningful way. This is also a great format for people's diplomacy, when the generations who will soon be leaders in their countries will be able to find a common language and positive emotions from communication and interaction,” Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, shared.

On Knowledge Day, art objects dedicated to the World Youth Festival were unveiled at a number of universities: they were installed at Northern (Arctic) Federal University and Ural Federal University. The art object includes the logo of the WYF 2024, a stylized image of human figures holding hands. The symbol of the Festival is based on the idea of a multipolar world, where people live in a world of different characters, faiths, cultures and beliefs, but united by the desire to live in a world where everyone can be themselves: to live and develop as they wish, without imposing their values on others. There is also a QR code on each art object that students can scan to register for participation.

Elena Kudryashova, Rector of the University, Olga Chertova, Head of the Agency for Youth Affairs of the Arkhangelsk Region, and Viktoriia Zviagintseva, Head of the Resource Centre for Volunteerism of the Arkhangelsk Region, one of the 27 centers recruiting and training volunteers for the World Youth Festival, attended the opening of the art object at Northern (Arctic) Federal University.

Vladimir Yakushev, Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the Ural Federal District, and his deputy Boris Kirillov were introduced to the art object during his visit to Ural Federal University.
