Rosatom to Select Experts for a Scientific and Educational Expedition on the Nuclear Icebreaker among the Delegates of the World Youth Festival

This year, 15 Festival participants will have the chance to visit the North Pole. The organizer of WYF 2024 is the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh).

As part of the World Youth Festival, the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation will select experts to take part in the expedition to the North Pole. In order to get the opportunity to become an expert on a scientific and educational expedition on the nuclear icebreaker in 2024, delegates of the Festival must be qualified in several rounds for professionalism and expertise in the chosen field. Within a few days, applicants will have to show themselves in team intellectual games and present creative and innovative solutions for Rosatom's Arctic expedition program.

Each future expert will present their ideas for the expedition program and proposals for promoting the Arctic agenda among the international youth community. The defence of the speeches will take place before the guests of WYF 2024 — scientists, engineers, as well as captains of the Ural and Arktika nuclear icebreakers Ivan Kurbatov and Alexander Scryabin.

15 finalists will be announced during the morning show on the main stage of the World Youth Festival on March 6, 2024.

 

Overview:

The World Youth Festival in accordance with the Decree of the Russian President Vladimir Putin in order to develop international youth cooperation.

20,000 young leaders in education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering, charity, sports, business, media, etc., including 10,000 foreign participants, will take part in the WYF 2024. For the first time in the history of the festival movement young people aged 14-17, 500 from Russia and 500 from abroad, will have the opportunity to participate in the event.

Rosatom and its enterprises participate in the creation of basic departments in Russian universities, the implementation of scholarship support programs, large educational projects, the organization of practical training and internships for students with their further employment. Young professionals gain new useful skills for their career growth.

The development of the Northern Sea Route as one of the most important logistics corridors is one of the strategic priorities of the state. Increasing the volume of transportation using the Northern Sea Route is of paramount importance for solving the tasks set in the field of comprehensive development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. The development of this corridor is ensured by establishing regular cargo transportation, building new nuclear icebreakers, and modernizing the relevant infrastructure. Rosatom enterprises take an active part in this work.
