Role of Young Scientists and Their WYF 2024 Opportunities Discussed at the 3rd Congress of Young Scientists

On November 30, the final day of the 3rd Congress of Young Scientists, the Youth in Science: Forming Interest in Discoveries session was held. The participants discussed the need to attract young researchers to science and to make information on the achievements and prospects of Russian science more accessible to citizens.

Denis Ashirov, Deputy Head of Rosmolodezh and Coordinator for the WYF 2024 Organization and Preparation, spoke at the session. He spoke about the opportunities that the World Youth Festival provides for young scientists. These include building international relationships, collaborating in the scientific field and exchanging experiences and best practices.

"The task of popularizing and involving young people in scientific activities and attracting them to the activities carried out in the field of scientific research, especially in the current geopolitical situation, requires new achievements from us. This task is a priority. The World Youth Festival will bring together young scientists from all over the world. That is why the Festival program will include a scientific track, which will allow us to talk about the scientific potential of Russia through various formats, inspire young people with science, and at the same time give young scientists from different countries the opportunity to unite and build relationships for further scientific cooperation," Denis Ashirov said.

He believes that the WYF 2024 will become a platform that can attract young people to scientific activities, development, and technology.

The discussion was also attended by Pavel Khlopin, Advisor to the Head of Rosmolodezh, Albina Bikbulatova, Director of the Department for Work with Educational Organizations of the Russian Znanie Society, Elena Dotsenko, Chair of the Alumni Association Board of Northern (Arctic) Federal University, Darya Kozyreva, Head of the Department of Patriotic Projects of the Movement of the First, Tatyana Matveeva, Editor-in-Chief of the Institute of Internet Development, Viktor Kirpa, Expert of the Grant Competition in the Contribution to the Future Nomination, and Oleg Bakhtadze-Karnaukhov, Founder of the Cyber Training Project.

Overview:

The World Youth Festival will take place in 2024 according to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation. At the first meeting of the Organizing Committee chaired by Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration, it was decided to hold the Festival in the Sirius Federal Territory early next year.

20,000 young leaders in education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering, charity, sports, business, media, etc., including 10,000 foreign participants, will take part in the WYF 2024. For the first time in the history of the festival movement young people aged 14-17, 500 from Russia and 500 from abroad, will have the opportunity to participate in the event. Registration of participants is open at fest2024.com until December 1, 2023.

5,000 volunteers from all regions of Russia, including 228 residents of the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions will be involved in the organization and delivery of the Festival.

The World Youth Festival is organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) and operated by the World Youth Festival Directorate.
