WYF 2024 Volunteer Registration Closing. Record Number of Applications Received for Volunteer Corps

More than 40,000 young people have applied to be part of the World Youth Festival Volunteer Corps. Due to more than eight times the number of applications for WYF 2024 volunteers, the application deadline has been shortened to November 15, 2023.

A total of 5,000 volunteers from all regions of Russia, including 228 residents of the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions will be involved in the organization and delivery of the Festival. Volunteers will work in 15 functional areas.

Young people are ready to take responsibility and make the world a better place," commented Larisa Sulima, Deputy Director General of the World Youth Festival Directorate.

27 Volunteer Recruitment and Training Centers across Russia will train volunteers. They have been selecting volunteers since October 2, 2023. The selection process consists of several stages. After completing the questionnaire, applicants will take an online test to determine their qualities and strengths. They will also have to participate in an interview and a training session to learn about the Festival, its program and symbols, and how to work with WYF 2024 participants and guests. The final list of volunteers will be determined after the interviews are completed.  The solemn conclusion of the application campaign will be the Festival Volunteer Corps Is 80 Days Away! event.

The registration in the Volunteer Corps opened at the Dobro.Conference in Samara on June 8. Anyone over 18 can become a WYF 2024 volunteer. Teenagers over 16 have the opportunity to work as City Volunteers and create a festive and hospitable atmosphere during the Festival in Moscow and Sochi. Applicants are required to be highly motivated, sociable and stress-resistant, speak English and other foreign languages, have teamwork skills and volunteer experience.

Overview:

The World Youth Festival will take place in 2024 according to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation. At the first meeting of the Organizing Committee chaired by Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration, it was decided to hold the Festival in the Sirius Federal Territory in March 2024. Then there will be the regional program of the World Youth Festival, where 2,000 foreign participants will visit 30 Russian cities.

20,000 young leaders in education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering, charity, sports, business, media, etc., including 10,000 foreign participants, will take part in the WYF 2024. For the first time in the history of the festival movement young people aged 14-17, 500 from Russia and 500 from abroad, will have the opportunity to participate in the event. Registration of participants is open at fest2024.com until December 1, 2023.
