Participants of the Congress of the WYF 2024 International Council Discuss the Role of International Diplomacy in the Modern World

As part of the Congress of the International Council of the World Youth Festival, the delegates met with Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

The meeting was attended by more than 120 foreign guests from 90 countries, including representatives of 70 National Preparatory Committees, World Youth Festival Ambassadors, and heads of foreign youth and children's organizations.

Leonid Slutsky welcomed and thanked the participants of the Congress for their genuine interest in Russia and for their activity in building ties between young people from different countries of the world. He also noted the important role of youth diplomacy and the importance of the Festival in establishing international cooperation among countries to create a just multipolar world.

"This Festival is special. It takes place at a time when global processes are taking place on Earth that will determine the future of the global security system, strategic nuclear deterrence systems, and the contours of the new world architecture of the twenty-first century. Participants of the World Youth Festival are those who will make a constructive point and shape this new world architecture. They will communicate, creating a single, indivisible communication space for young leaders who will determine the future of their countries in just a few years," said Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

He noted the importance of implementing a common international youth policy and creating various international platforms where young people, tomorrow's leaders of their countries, can communicate, get to know each other, and strengthen friendship between nations. The World Youth Festival will be such an event. Leonid Slutsky expressed his confidence that the event will be held in a bright atmosphere and will be organized at the highest level, and that the foreign and Russian Festival participants will remember this event for the rest of their lives.

Overview:

The World Youth Festival will take place in 2024 according to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation. At the first meeting of the Organizing Committee chaired by Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration, it was decided to hold the Festival in the Sirius Federal Territory in March 2024. Then there will be the regional program of the World Youth Festival, where 2,000 foreign participants will visit 30 Russian cities.

20,000 young leaders in education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering, charity, sports, business, media, etc., including 10,000 foreign participants, will take part in the WYF 2024. For the first time in the history of the festival movement young people aged 14-17, 500 from Russia and 500 from abroad, will have the opportunity to participate in the event. Registration of participants is open at fest2024.com until December 1, 2023.

5,000 volunteers from all regions of Russia, including 228 residents of the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions will be involved in the organization and delivery of the Festival. Registration of volunteers is open on the ДОБРО.РФ platform until December 1, 2023.

The World Youth Festival is organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) and operated by the World Youth Festival Directorate.
