New Opportunities for the Development of Science and Economy in Russia Discussed at the WYF 2024

On March 5, the Russia in the New International Environment: Opportunities for Politics, Economics and Science panel discussion was held at the World Youth Festival.

The panelists noted that Russia is currently in the epicenter of global changes. Sanctions pressure and transformation of the geopolitical map of the world create obstacles and at the same time open new opportunities for the country's development.

During the discussion of this topic, experts expressed their ideas and suggestions on how to develop the country and form new alliances in these conditions.

The event was attended by Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, Head of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania Sergey Menyaylo, Foreign Minister of Abkhazia Inal Ardzinba, Director of the Primakov Center for Foreign Policy Cooperation Victoria Karslieva, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Pavel Shevtsov, Director of the UN Information Center in Moscow Vladimir Kuznetsov, Chairman of the Board of the Movement of the First Grigory Gurov.

"The international situation is very complicated. The Republic of Abkhazia made its civilizational choice quite a long time ago. We are developing relations of alliance, strategic partnership with the Russian Federation. These relations have a very solid legal and regulatory foundation. I am referring to the relevant agreements between our countries of 2008 and 2014. And our main task as a foreign affairs agency, as it was formulated by the President of Abkhazia, is to define our alliance with the Russian Federation. We are doing everything possible for this and we will act in this way. Huge gratitude to Russia for supporting our people", - said Inal Ardzinba.

For his part, Sergey Menyaylo noted the importance of unity within the country.

"Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said that we are strong with our centuries-old history. We have each city and nation - it is a centuries-old history with its own customs, traditions, rich cultural heritage. This is passed on from generation to generation. And now we are doing everything to prevent this history from being erased, because someone has always wanted to separate and divide us. Today the fight is for the minds of young people, and our task is not to give an opportunity to turn everything upside down," said Sergey Menyaylo.

As part of the discussion of Russia's development vector, Denis Pushilin spoke about the industrial potential and future of the DNR.

"The political opportunities in Donbas especially for the youth are incredible. The projects and tools that have now been formed and provided for the youth of Donbas are already being used, and we are going upwards. We are emphasizing economic development, because Donbas has great potential, but we cannot live only in the past - the world has changed and, of course, priorities have changed. New opportunities are now opening up for Donbass both in the economy and in science," noted Denis Pushilin.

Pavel Shevtsov emphasized that Russia is one of the leading educational powers and there is a great interest from foreign citizens to the Russian Federation in terms of education. For foreigners Russia is interesting for its diversity. Such interest in learning Russian, which exists now, has not been seen in the last 20 years. And they are trying to satisfy this demand as much as possible.
