At the World Youth Festival, a world record was set for the most multinational “Round dance of friendship”

The world record for the most multinational round dance of friendship was set at the World Youth Festival in Sirius.  Representatives of 73 countries from more than 150 countries of the world united in the famous dance, which has become a symbol of Russia. Behind the creation of a large-scale event are the project "Masters of Hospitality" of the presidential platform "Russia - Land of Opportunity" and the art cluster "Tavrida".

In total, 2 thousand young people joined the event. Among them are Spaniards, Brazilians, Chechens, Irish, Kyrgyz, Azerbaijanis, Ossetians, Mexicans, Arabs, Africans, Jews, Bashkirs, Indians, Chinese, Bulgarians, Yakuts, Lezgins, Komi-Permyaks, Italians, Americans, Russians, Georgians, Uzbeks , Gypsies, Belarusians, Chuvash, Berbers, Japanese. All of them were inspired by the atmosphere reigning at the World Youth Festival, fully felt the original atmosphere of the regions of Russia, and became acquainted with the cultural characteristics and traditions of our country. The result of these impressions was the multinational “Round Dance of Friendship”, which became a bright moment of unity between different countries, and the creative team of the “Tavrida” art cluster was able to organize it and turn it into a real performance.

The world record in the nomination “The Most Multinational Round Dance of Friendship” was officially confirmed by the Head of the International Record Registration Agency “Interrecord” Vladislav Kopylov and the agency’s international arbitrator Yudelkis Dias. Special guests noted that they witnessed this historical event, where the energy of youth and cultural unity merged in harmony, captured in a new world record.

“The world record set at the World Youth Festival in Sirius is impressive in its greatness. Emotions ran high as we announced the results of the record-breaking achievement. At this moment, merging into a single round dance of friendship, almost 2 thousand young hearts from more than 150 countries filled the air with joy and pride. The world record “The Most Multinational Round Dance of Friendship” is not just numbers, it is a powerful symphony of unity created by the magic of unity and youth energy. Today we are witnessing how borders are being erased, and the round dance of friendship unites hearts all over the world. We thank the organizers of the greatest event - the "Masters of Hospitality" project of the presidential platform "Russia - Land of Opportunity" and the art cluster "Tavrida", - noted Head of the International Agency for Registration of Records "Interrecord"  Vladislav Kopylov.

The multinational round dance at the World Youth Festival was conducted by the main round dancer of Russia - Honored Figure of Culture of Russia, participant in the "Masters of Hospitality" project of the presidential platform "Russia - Land of Opportunity" Ekaterina Alikhanova. With her team, the master preserves and popularizes round dance traditions in the Belgorod region and throughout the country. Thanks to Ekaterina, the master’s hometown, Grayvoron, Belgorod Region, became the birthplace of the “Pattern Round Dance of Russia”. On the Grayvoron land, a unique culture has been preserved with a patterned round dance, which has more than once been recognized as one of the best tourist events in Russia, and was also the first in terms of mass and pattern to be included in the Book of World Records.

“As long as tradition lives among the people, then Great Rus' lives! At the main youth event in the world, the masters of hospitality decided to introduce the guests of our country to the famous Russian round dance and, through dance, unite people of completely different interests, professions, ages from regions of Russia and around the world. Russian amusements do not lose relevance in our country and are in fashion among the younger generation - ethnicity, folklore, folk hobbies. So, in a single creative impulse, holding hands, we revived the round dance traditions and at the World Youth Festival created the most multinational round dance of friendship. We are confident that the participants will carry this friendship throughout their lives and will definitely return to Russia!” – noted Ekaterina Alikhanova, Honored Figure of Culture of Russia, participant in the “Masters of Hospitality” project of the presidential platform “Russia – Land of Opportunity”.

Participant of the World Youth Festival Eduard Wieterspan from Germany: “Today I took part in a world record for round dancing, it was, of course, unique in its scale! Many nations, many people from all regions of the world and Russia all held hands and danced together. And it didn’t matter to us what politics, what weather, what mood, because we ourselves created a great mood for everyone. Of course, I would like to bring this to Germany, so that we can all dance together like this, and I think that we can start doing this little by little and spreading round dances and the tradition of dancing together here in Germany.”

“I will remember this day for a long time, we did a round dance, a Russian dance, it was very interesting! Many people from different countries danced holding hands. I really liked the music too. Russia is a very cheerful and hospitable country, I hope that I will return here someday,” added Claude Emmanuel Kenedis from Haiti.

Guest of the youth event from China, Li Hongxing, is inspired by the scale of the World Youth Festival: “Russia is an amazingly hospitable country. Today we did a round dance, a very interesting experience, I have never done anything like this before. This dance really brings people together, everyone is very happy. Thank you for this experience, these memories will stay with me for the rest of my life.”

The World Youth Festival is taking place on the federal territory of Sirius from March 1 to March 7, 2024 in accordance with the Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin in order to develop international youth cooperation. The organizer of the World Youth Festival is the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), the operator of WYF-2024 is the Directorate of the World Youth Festival. This is the largest event in the world in the field of international youth cooperation. Preserving the history of the festival movement, the World Youth Festival will become a new stage in international cooperation, uniting future generations around the idea of peace and friendship.

Project “Masters of Hospitality” a project for talented and proactive specialists in the hospitality industry who implement the best tourism practices in the regions of Russia, develop territories and domestic tourism, and preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the country. The project started on November 13, 2019. Its goal is to unlock the potential of professionals, form new traditions, raise standards of service and the prestige of professions in the fields of tourism and hospitality.
