At the World Youth Festival-2024, the Averin sisters fulfilled the wish of a little female gymnast

In the World Youth City, which became the Sirius Federal Territory from March 1 to 7, Russian gymnasts Dina and Arina Averina, members of the Russian Olympic rhythmic gymnastics team, fulfilled the wish of Veronika Burakova, a 9-year-old participant of the Movement of the First from the Republic of Karelia.

Veronica is professionally engaged in rhythmic gymnastics. She devotes a lot of time to training, participates in rhythmic gymnastics competitions and already has a 3rd adult division. As part of her participation in the All-Russian project "Dream with Me", the participant of the Movement of the First made a wish to meet the Averin sisters, legends of Russian rhythmic gymnastics.

"We are very happy that we were able to fulfill the little gymnast's dream because dreams should come true. The girl was filled with incredible energy and emotion from us. She came out so happy, she will continue to train twice as hard to be like us. Just as we had a dream in our childhood to meet our idol Alina Kabaeva, and it came true - we participate in her festival. This makes us happier", noted Dina and Arina Averina.

Veronika Burakova studies in the 3rd grade at Petrozavodsk school and likes to spend time at home with her family: playing board games, watching movies and cooking dinner together. She also likes to draw and make unusual crafts with her hands.

For 10 years, the all-Russian project "Dream with Me" has been realizing the intangible dreams of children from 6 to 17 years old with life-threatening health conditions. The project team is convinced that children with serious illnesses have more subtle but equally important needs beyond treatment. The idea of the project was born out of the need to satisfy the need for positive emotions and new impressions for children enduring long medical procedures. "Dream with Me" does not give gifts or fundraise for treatment, but brings to life ideas that the person is involved in realizing themselves.

The project participants tried themselves as train drivers, policemen, TV presenters, firemen, ballet and movie actors, took part in workshops and TV programs, climbed mountain peaks and met their idols. In total, more than 600 cherished wishes were fulfilled in 89 regions of the country.

The World Youth Festival will take place in 2024 on the Sirius Federal Territory according to the Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation.

20,000 young leaders in education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering, charity, sports, business, media, etc., including 10,000 foreign participants, will take part in the WYF 2024. For the first time in the history of the festival movement young people aged 14-17, 500 from Russia and 500 from abroad, will have the opportunity to participate in the event. The World Youth Festival is organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) and operated by the World Youth Festival Directorate.
