Medical volunteers will provide medical support for the World Youth Festival
On August 7th, within the framework of the All-Russian Forum of Medical Volunteers, the first tripartite agreement was signed between the Directorate of the World Youth Festival, the Association of Volunteer Centers, and the All-Russian Public Movement of Medical Volunteers - one of the 27 centers for attracting and training volunteers for the World Youth Festival.
The All-Russian Public Movement of Medical Volunteers became the only Center for training volunteers in the special functional area - Medical Support: the organization is responsible for training and coordinating the work of volunteers assisting medical personnel at all venues of the Festival. In addition, the WYF 2024 volunteer program was presented at the forum.
"The World Youth Festival is a large - scale international event, and the issues of safety and health of the participants are important to us. That is why we pay so much attention to the training of medical volunteers. This task will be fulfilled by the All-Russian Public Movement of Medical Volunteers. The guys trained by them will be at absolutely all Festival venues and will help medical personnel. These volunteers are students who are preparing to become doctors in the future, but they are always ready to help those who need it. And we are proud of each of our volunteers," said Ksenia Razuvaeva, Head of Rosmolodezh.
Work with volunteers based on the Center will be held in two stages: formation of the volunteer corps and training. The first stage includes the selection of candidates and their theoretical training in first aid skills on the Dobro.University platform. The next stage will include training and teaching volunteers basic first aid skills and functionality required for medical support of public events, as well as training team leaders.
At the Festival, volunteers of the functional area Medical support will monitor the participants' well-being, provide first aid if necessary and ask for help from medical personnel when needed. An important part of the training will be case studies that may occur at the event, as well as a study of the Festival venue. The program will be structured in such a way that volunteers will be able to receive theoretical and practical training, which they will be able to apply in practice if necessary.
"The opening of the Center for training volunteers in the direction of Medical Support will not only ensure a high level of health safety for participants but also create an opportunity for medical volunteers to gain invaluable experience of integration into international level events. Volunteers will be able to apply their knowledge and skills at all Festival venues, which will contribute to the successful organization and execution of the event. This is a great step in the development of the volunteer movement," shared Anastasia Zatsepurina, Chair of the All-Russian Public Movement of Medical Volunteers.
Five thousand volunteers from all regions of Russia, including 250 residents of LNR, DNR, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions, will be involved in organizing and conducting the Festival.Anyone aged 18 and over (16 - for some functions) can become a volunteer at the Festival - you need to have a high level of motivation, teamwork skills, communication skills, stress resistance, command of English and other foreign languages, as well as volunteer experience.Registration is open until 1st December 2023 on the DOBRO.RU platform. More than 10 thousand Russian citizens have already expressed their desire to become volunteers for WYF 2024.
"Young people are showing a huge interest in volunteering for the Festival. The competition for the volunteer corps is still two people per place, but we, with our colleagues from the Association, expect an increase in competition closer to 1st December when the application campaign will be completed. All 15 functional areas in which the centers of attraction and training of volunteers of the World Youth Festival start working, are important. But health issues are among the most sensitive, key ones. Medical volunteers are the organization that can provide high-level training of competent and qualified volunteers for the organization of medical support of the Festival. The Association of Volunteer Centers will provide comprehensive assistance in this," commented Kirill Antonov, Executive Director of the Association of Volunteer Centers.

The World Youth Festival will be held in 2024 in accordance with the Decree of President of Russia Vladimir Putin for the purpose of the development of the international youth cooperation. At the first meeting of the Organizing Committee, chaired by Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, it was decided to hold the Festival in the Sirius Federal Territory from March 1 to March 7, 2024. The regional program of the World Youth Festival will be carried out from March 10 to March 17, 2024, the participants will visit 30 Russian cities.
The World Youth Festival will be attended by 20,000 young leaders in business, media, education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering and charity, sports, and other various areas of life, including 10,000 foreign participants. For the first time in the history of the festival movement, teenagers from 14 to 17 years old — 500 from Russia and 500 from abroad — will have an opportunity to attend the Festival.
