Artificial Intelligence Criticism – Philosophers and Artificial Intelligence to "Clash" at WYF 2024

12 February 2024, 17:35

The WYF 2024 will host the Artificial Intelligence Criticism, or a Night with Immanuel Kant show debate. The participants will discuss the key ideas of the great philosopher related to the concepts of ethics, knowledge, and morality. The partner of the event is Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University.

Tatyana Chernigovskaya, scientist in the field of neuroscience and psycholinguistics, Yuriy Vyazemskiy, writer and TV presenter, and Alexander Fedorov, rector and professor of IKBFU, will take part in the debates. The event will be moderated by Maxim Potashev, master of the What? Where? When? game show and multiple winner of the Crystal Owl. The "philosophers" will speak to WYF 2024 participants in a TEDx format, expressing their positions on Immanuel Kant's works. Their "opponent" will be a specially designed artificial intelligence that will present its own theses on each point of discussion. WYF 2024 participants will also participate in the discussion. They will vote, ask experts questions, and present their arguments.

"The show debate is a unique format that combines lectures by renowned experts and scientists, discussions between humans and artificial intelligence, and audience participation in asking questions, presenting arguments, and evaluating speakers. We will probably not reach a full consensus in one evening. The topic that we have chosen is too big and too broad, but it will be interesting for sure. We are going to look at artificial intelligence from a broad perspective. We may even see it from an unexpected angle," said Alexander Fedorov, Rector of Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University.

The interactive popular science format will help identify the prospects for the development of artificial intelligence, its potential benefits and threats, and compare the capabilities of humans and modern technology.
