FEFU Becomes the Easternmost WYF 2024 Volunteer Recruitment and Training Center

A Volunteer Recruitment and Training Center was opened at Far Eastern Federal University on September 10, the first day of the Eastern Economic Forum. The event was attended by Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Elena Bronnikova, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Primorsky Territory, Boris Korobets, FEFU Rector, and Larisa Sulima, Deputy Director General of the World Youth Festival Executive Directorate.

The Center will be responsible for recruiting and training volunteers who will be involved in the organization and delivery of the World Youth Festival. It will train a total of 92 volunteers ― 50 volunteers from the Primorsky Territory and 42 volunteers from the Kamchatka Territory, Magadan and Sakhalin Regions and Chukotka Autonomous Area.

«World Youth Festival volunteers will make a significant contribution to strengthening friendship between young people from Russia and abroad.Since we expect a large number of participants and honored guests from the Asia-Pacific Region, the experience of volunteers from the Far East will be particularly important», said Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

FEFU became the only university in the Far Eastern Federal District to win the All - Russian competition to select World Youth Festival Volunteer Recruitment and Training Centers.It will be one of 27 volunteer recruitment and training centers for the largest youth event of 2024. A total of 474 organizations from 86 regions of the country, including the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics and Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions applied for the competition.

The FEFU Volunteer Training Center has been operating for more than 10 years. Over 450 students of the Center and other volunteer organizations of the university work in the event, social, patriotic, sports and cultural areas. Over the past year, the university volunteers have taken part in more than 170 regional and federal events.

Overview:

The World Youth Festival will take place in 2024, according to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation. At the first meeting of the Organizing Committee chaired by Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration, it was decided to hold the Festival in the Sirius Federal Territory on March 1-7, 2024. The regional program of the World Youth Festival will take place on March 10-17, 2024. The participants will visit 30 cities of Russia.

20,000 young leaders in education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering, charity, sports, business, media, etc., including 10,000 foreign participants, will take part in the WYF 2024. For the first time in the history of the festival movement young people aged 14-17, 500 from Russia and 500 from abroad, will have the opportunity to participate in the event. Registration is open until December 1 at fest2024.com.

5,000 volunteers from all regions of Russia, including about 250 residents of the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions will be involved in the organization and delivery of the Festival. Registration of volunteers is open on the ДОБРО.РФ platform until December 1, 2023.

The World Youth Festival is organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) and operated by the World Youth Festival Directorate.
