Fight in life and for life: participants of the Znanie.Pervye marathon, they attended an inspiring meeting with Roman Kostomarov and Oksana Domnina

The legendary couple of figure skaters shared their experience with the participants of the educational marathon of the Znanie.Pervye of the Russian Society "Knowledge", which takes place within the framework of the World Youth Festival in "Sirius". Olympic champion in figure skating, two-time world champion, three-time European champion Roman Kostomarov and bronze medalist of the Olympics, world champion in figure skating Oksana Domnina said that it helps them to win against everything. An unforgettable conversation for young people took place on March 4 in the "Kazan" Pavilion and was included in the program of the track "A world of opportunity for everyone".

The participants of the marathon thanked the figure skaters for the example of a strong family and love. Olympic champion Roman Kostomarov told what difficulties he had to go through and what he found support in.

"I continue to do sports. Sport — is my life. I can't ride like I used to, I don't feel the cold as much now, but I train. In December 2023, we went on the ice with Oksana, 10,000 spectators watched us. I experienced colossal emotions: the audience watched and applauded us standing up. This performance was something incredible and enchanting! And yesterday I got on a snowboard. I have been snowboarding for many years, I have an idea, but I didn't know how to do it in the current conditions, but I managed. Muscle memory helped to ride. This is such an example and motivation for everyone. If you want to do something, go and do it!" — said Roman Kostomarov.

The conversation elicited a huge response from the participants of the marathon. There were especially many questions about achievements, support and motivation.

"I consider the main achievement in life to be the fact that I met Oksana, I found my love, I have a strong family! Before the tragic incident, I had a wonderful sports career, but now I understand that all these difficulties that I experienced during daily training, tears before competitions, worries, excitement... All these years in figure skating hardened me so much that I was able to go out and from this most difficult situation" —said Roman Kostomarov.

Oksana and Roman talked a lot about the secrets of family happiness. The figure skater has repeatedly emphasized that he is grateful and proud of his wife. And Oksana Domnina herself emphasized that only love helps to be strong.

Soon, on February 9, the documentary film "Roman Kostomarov: Born Twice" will be released in cinemas across the country. Famous figure skaters plan to go to the show with the whole family. Oksana Domnina claims that this film is about a husband, and Roman Kostomarov believes the complete opposite.

"This film is about a strong woman. It is important to have a close person nearby, such as my wife and mother. They help to believe that I did not stay in this world for nothing. Everyone says that women are the weaker sex, but in fact they are the stronger sex. If it weren't for my wife, I wouldn't have gotten out. This film is about the dreams of little Roman Kostomarov, how I achieved success in sports, what difficulties I experienced, how I managed to overcome them, about my parents, about the doctors who fought for my life. The meeting of Roman Kostomarov and Oksana Domnina with the participants of the Znanie.Pervye marathon took place on the third day of the educational marathon, which takes place from March 2 to 6 during the World Youth Festival in "Sirius".

The Russian Society "Knowledge" is the general partner of the program of the World Youth Festival, and the Znanie.Pervye marathon has become one of the main events of this program. Alongside the educational marathon, within the educational program of the "Knowledge" Society organized the intellectual tournament "Znanie.Igra" with participants from different countries and the lecture series "Znanie.Kino", where viewers could watch legendary Russian films and discuss them with famous actors and directors. The Multimedia exhibition of the national photo contest Znanie.Rossiya is also open, which introduces the main achievements of the country in the 21st century and immerses you in their atmosphere with the help of augmented reality technology.

The World Youth Festival shall become a platform for open dialog between young people from Russia and other countries. After the completion of the events on the Sirius, Russian "Knowledge" Society will continue the educational line of the World Youth Festival from March 10 to 17 within the framework of the regional program WYF 2024, which will cover all federal districts of our country.

The first federal education marathon was held in May 2021 and became a symbol of the reboot of the Russian Knowledge Society. More than 850 lecturers shared their experience during the marathon.

The Russian Knowledge Society traces its history back to the Soviet public organization founded in 1947 on the initiative of representatives of the Soviet intelligentsia as the All-Union Society for the Dissemination of Political and Scientific Knowledge (since 1963 — the All-Union Knowledge Society, since 1991— the Knowledge of Russia Society). Members of the Society were engaged in popularizing science and lecturing on the achievements of the Soviet economy and industry.
