The authors and performers of the World Youth Festival theme song shared interesting facts about its creation

The duo Nansi&Sidorov, composed of Anastasia Belyavskaya and Oleg Sidorov, shared insights into the creation process behind the World Youth Festival-2024 theme song. According to the musicians, the creative process started with the chorus, which was collaboratively composed.

"We were sailing on a boat on the Neva River and realized that we wanted to create something for the future. We held a song rising workshop," said Anastasia Belyavskaya.

The singers admitted that it was not easy to work with such a scheme because they had to listen to each of the 30 people involved. But this way, a sort of focus group was formed, which helped them understand what more people would like.

The authors took the abbreviation of the festival and wrote lines of the chorus on each letter.

"In the name of a common idea, Flags will fly high, We're here and it's our time," the singer shared. 

According to the performers, the song lasts about two minutes, and they managed to put all the meanings of the Festival in its verses. By the way, each day of the Festival is dedicated to certain themes and meanings that run through all the events. So, March 2 is "Responsibility for the fate of the world" day.

The musicians said that they were very attentive to this creative task – after all, the overall impression of the Festival participants depends on the musical component. Plus, they wanted to make the song not banal and not too formal. 

Oleg Sidorov noted that, working on the arrangement of the composition, he sought the universality of the musical language. 

"I wanted to create something comprehensive. Russian, European, African music has its own methods and peculiarities. At the same time, I wanted to write something that people will like now," said Oleg Sidorov. 

The musician also shared his impressions of the Festival. 

"Indeed, there is a feeling that all the roads are open, that the city lives, this whole area and this whole site lives and will continue to live," said Oleg Sidorov.

The duo Nansi&Sidorov will take part in several events at the World Youth Festival: in addition to performing the official WYF anthem, they will perform at the closing of the forum and sing one of their compositions. The actors will also take part in the Festival's Gastroscene and in the musical and patriotic performance "Faith. Hope. Love," which is about strong Russian women working in the special military operation zone.

The official song of the WYF-2024 is called "We Are Here." The song symbolizes the unity of young people all over the planet. It was created on the "Creativity Warmboat," a special project of Youth Day 2023.  More than 30 talented young people took part in creating a composition to inspire the Festival participants.

The World Youth Festival is held on the Sirius Federal Territory from March 1 to 7, 2024 in accordance with the Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin in order to develop international youth cooperation.

The organizer of the World Youth Festival is the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), the operator of the WYF-2024 is the Directorate of the World Youth Festival.
