80 Days before the Start of the Festival Volunteer Corps Celebrated in the Youth House

On Volunteer Day, December 5, a festive event for volunteers of the World Youth Festival was held in the Youth House at the site of the Russia International Exhibition and Forum as part of the #MYVMESTE International Forum of Civic Participation.

Artem Metelev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy, Chairman of the Council of the Association of Volunteer Centers and Head of ДОБРО.РФ, and Denis Ashirov, Deputy Head of Rosmolodezh and Coordinator for the WYF 2024 Organization and Delivery, addressed the audience.

"27 Volunteer Recruitment and Training Centers have become our mainstay in creating the World Youth Festival Volunteer Corps. It was important for us to choose the most active and brightest volunteers. They will talk about our country, its uniqueness, its richness, and most importantly, about the World Youth Festival. Volunteers will now be trained at the Volunteer Centers, directly at the Festival venue in the Sirius Federal Territory, as well as in Moscow and Sochi. After that, the work of the Volunteer Corps will not end. They will help foreign participants during the regional program, which includes 30 Russian cities," said Denis Ashirov.

80 days before the start of the Festival Volunteer Corps solemnly concluded the volunteer selection campaign for the largest international event. The event was attended by representatives of all 27 WYF 2024 Volunteer Recruitment and Training Centers took part, including managers, trainers, selection specialists and volunteers themselves, who have already passed all the selection stages for the WYF 2024 and are waiting for the results to be announced.

"We have built a huge network of volunteers in our country over the past few years. We received 50,000 applications and completed the application process for the Festival Volunteer Corps ahead of schedule. In many ways, this was due to the work of the World Youth Festival Volunteer Recruitment and Training Centers. Most of those who will join the WYF 2024 volunteer team have already been selected," said Artem Metelev.

The guests of the event learned about the functional areas in which the volunteers will work. Representatives of the WYF 2024 Volunteer Recruitment and Training Center at the Mosvolonter Resource Center, presented the City Volunteers functional area. They will create a festive and hospitable atmosphere and accompany Festival participants at airports. 7 winning colleges of the Sochi City Volunteer Training Competition were presented, including the University College of Economics and Technology of Sochi State University, Sochi Vocational College, Sochi College of Multicultural Education, Sochi Institute (Branch) of Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Sochi Medical College, Academic College and Branch of Russian State Social University in Sochi.

The participants were also introduced to special functional areas, medical volunteers and volunteer attachés. The Medical Services functional area was presented by Anastasiia Zatsepurina, Head of the Russian Medical Volunteers Public Movement, and 30 representatives of the Center. Maryam Khubieva, Head of the MGIMO Volunteer Center, and 50 volunteer applicants, trainers and selection specialists told about the Attachés of Foreign Delegations functional area. There was also a teleconference with universities involved in the training of volunteer attachés, including FEFU, UrFU, NCFU, PSU, VolSU, KubSU, UNN, ChuvSU, and UNECON. They greeted the guests in the languages of the peoples of the world.

The event also included the awarding of 10 finalists of the official WYF 2024 Volunteer Song Contest. The finalists were chosen by popular vote in the official Vkontakte group. The song "I Am A Volunteer" by Lyubov Brel became the winner of the contest.

The World Youth Festival will take place in 2024 according to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation. At the first meeting of the Organizing Committee chaired by Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration, it was decided to hold the Festival in the Sirius Federal Territory early next year.

20,000 young leaders in education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering, charity, sports, business, media, etc., including 10,000 foreign participants, will take part in the WYF 2024. For the first time in the history of the festival movement young people aged 14-17, 500 from Russia and 500 from abroad, will have the opportunity to participate in the event.

5,000 volunteers from all regions of Russia, including 228 residents of the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions will be involved in the organization and delivery of the Festival.

The World Youth Festival is organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) and operated by the World Youth Festival Directorate.
