38 WYF 2024 National Preparatory Committees Open Abroad

As part of the Eastern Economic Forum youth program, the panel discussion The World Youth Festival as a Foundation for Effective Ties Between Asia-Pacific Countries took place on September 13. It was attended by Daniil Bisslinger, WYF 2024 Coordinator of the International Division, Maksim Dreval, CEO of the Russian Knowledge Society, and Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The participants discussed the role of the World Youth Festival in shaping international cooperation. Intercultural and business contacts between young people from different countries around the world, including those in the Asia-Pacific Region, were the main focus of the discussion.

The National Preparatory Committees for the World Youth Festival have an important role to play in establishing such contacts and in attracting foreign participants to the forthcoming major international event. 38 committees — WYF 2024 supporting structures abroad — have already started their work. Their tasks include the selection of foreign participants, the formation of foreign delegations and the promotion of the Festival. Several committees have been opened in the Asia-Pacific countries.

«The World Youth Festival is the largest international youth event to be held in March 2024. The Festival will bring together 20,000 young leaders from around the globe, including from more than 30 APAC countries.Representatives from Australia, Canada, China, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, the United States, Vietnam, Indonesia, Canada, the Republic of Korea, and many other countries in the region have already expressed their desire to take part in the event. The Festival will be attended by representatives of business and private sector, education and science, media, sport, creative industries and culture.The Festival will create the conditions for young people to meet and build strong friendships and business relationships with their peers and colleagues, to discuss issues that are important to them, and to exchange experiences and knowledge. To this end, the World Youth Festival program will include discussions, lectures, volunteer events, competitions, exhibition programs, workshops and many other interactive and scientific events», said Daniil Bisslinger, WYF 2024 Coordinator of the International Division.

To date, National Preparatory Committees have been established in Argentina, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Bolivia, Gambia, Guatemala, Honduras, Georgia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Dominican Republic, Cameroon, Costa Rica, Egypt, Israel, Iraq, Indonesia, Spain, Italy, Yemen, Qatar, Colombia, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, El Salvador, the USA, Tajikistan, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador, and the Caribbean countries.

Panellists also discussed the role of universities and students in the World Youth Festival. For example, Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, noted that 13 Volunteer Recruitment and Training Centers from 27 organizations, selected on the basis of the results of the All-Russia competition, have been established at Russian universities. The Deputy Minister said that foreign students show a keen interest in higher education in Russia.This is confirmed by the dynamics of admission and training of foreign citizens at Russian universities. The World Youth Festival will further strengthen international cooperation in higher education.

The experts also talked about the leading role of the World Youth Festival in building strong international ties, discussed cooperation formats to create effective communication between young people from Russia and Asia-Pacific countries, and shared best practices in cooperation with Eastern countries in various fields.

Overview:

The World Youth Festival will take place in 2024, according to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of international youth cooperation. At the first meeting of the Organizing Committee chaired by Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration, it was decided to hold the Festival in the Sirius Federal Territory on March 1-7, 2024. The regional program of the World Youth Festival will take place on March 10-17, 2024. The participants will visit 30 cities of Russia.

20,000 young leaders in education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteering, charity, sports, business, media, etc., including 10,000 foreign participants, will take part in the WYF 2024. For the first time in the history of the festival movement young people aged 14-17, 500 from Russia and 500 from abroad, will have the opportunity to participate in the event. Registration is open until December 1 at fest2024.com.

5,000 volunteers from all regions of Russia, including about 250 residents of the LPR, DPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions will be involved in the organization and delivery of the Festival. Registration of volunteers is open on the ДОБРО.РФ platform until December 1, 2023.

The World Youth Festival is organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) and operated by the World Youth Festival Directorate.
