The World Youth Festival will be held in Sochi from March 1st to 7th. It is expected that 20,000 people from over 100 countries will take part, including children for the first time. This was announced by the first deputy head of the Presidential Administration and Chairman of the Festival's Organizing Committee, Sergei Kiriyenko.

"The most important thing is to show our country as it really is: multiethnic, culturally diverse, united, technologically advanced, and unbeatable," said Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Tatyana Golikova at the first meeting of the Organizing Committee.

If previously the minimum age for participants was 18 years old, age restrictions are planned to be expanded in 2024.

"We propose to expand the age of participants, especially considering that the Russian youth movement 'Movement of the First' is becoming more active," Kiriyenko said at the first meeting of the Organizing Committee.

"The registration campaign for the Festival is scheduled to start this summer. We are expecting not only official delegations from different countries but also private visits from foreign guests," wrote the head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodyozh) Ksenia Razuvayeva in her Telegram channel.

The first days of the Festival will feature "Future Games" digital races, and the international exhibition forum "Russia" at VDNH will be one of the key points of the program.

According to Razuvayeva, in addition to the main program of the Festival in Sirius, a program in the regions of Russia is also planned for foreign participants. It will take place from March 10th to 17th, 2024.

Many international partners have already confirmed their participation, according to the Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Youth Policy, Chairman of the Association of Volunteer Centers, and Head of the DOBRO.RF platform Artem Metelev. He added that the Association of Volunteer Centers will train 5,000 volunteers to organize the Festival. In early June, a competition for the right to become a center for training and selecting volunteers will be announced on the Dobro.Conference.

"Our expectations are very positive. The participants of the Festival get to know each other, become friends, and even fall in love. They come up with joint projects. All of this brings young people together in spirit and common interests, without looking at politics, sanctions, and international misinformation about Russia. Young leaders from different countries will have to build our common future based on justice and cooperation," Metelev said.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth has been organizer of the event since 1947. The Festival was held in Moscow in 1957 for the first time, with nearly 34,000 people from 130 countries participating. The last Festival was held in Sochi in 2017, bringing together about 20,000 delegates from 180 countries.
